33/111 Progress

I decided to use the left half of this picture for my 33 project.
I painted it with white ink against a type of black poster board.

For my 111 I had narrowed it down to the following:

And then I finally decided to go with a different version of this one

Modular Madness Final

I scrapped the idea of making the flowers look like vines because I wanted it to look realistic but I don't think that came across with the amount of flowers I had, and the idea just didn't seem that great. So then when I was looking at one of my MM progress photos I noticed that I unintentionally created an "X" with the flowers and I wondered what I could do with this. Then out of nowhere it occured to me to make a sort of memorial with two X's in the front to be kind of like the "CAUTION" yellow tape that's put around crime scenes and to make it look like there's been some terrible accident there that resulted in someone's death. So the next day I made the memorial scene and it turned out better than I imagined.

Word as Image Final

I took some pictures of my final "Word as Image" project but I can't find them on my camera and I'll post new pictures up as soon as Bill hands back our projects.

Modular Madness Progress

So the items I chose to use were flowers, for no other reason than because they're really beautiful. I had written down a lot of ideas, like over 60, but I had to scrap a lot of them for many reasons, for example, being too expensive, too complex, unrealistic, etc.
What I had initially imagined was to make a sort of web/curtain of flowers. I wanted to use a lot of flowers and I wanted them to be real but that would have been too costly so I decided to use fake ones and use less. I went from making a web/curtain to making vines that would hang from wall to wall.
This was pretty difficult to make because I strung them together using dental floss and the flowers kept getting tangled and it would take me hours to untangle them! That was pretty frustrating.

Word as Image Progress

My first ideas were to do the words "Free" and "Flexible"

For "free" I was going to surround/trap the word with boxes of text. I started doing this like the day he gave out the assignment when all the instructions were a little fuzzy.

For "flexible" I was going to make long "sticks" of text that appeared to be snapping because they weren't flexible and couldn't bend.

Okay, in my defense I thought I clearly heard Bill say that you couldn't have text overlap. And yeah, obviously I heard wrong. I later scrapped these ideas and went with something else.

Cardboard Final

So this was pretty tough, trying to make a seashell out of cardboard. But this project was one of our first for 3D so at least too much wasn't expected of us.
Well, it could have been better but considering how everyone who had to do a clam shell thought it was impossible, I thought I did pretty good.
I wish, though, that I could've formed a more round back for the shell because it kind of looks like it just got cut off. And maybe to make this really great I could have tried really hard to make the craft look really neat and even realistic. I would actually like to do this project over again and turn it in now knowing how to go about this.
