Cardboard Progress

So I"m trying to construct a seashell and my first attempt was a little too simple...

...just a bended piece of cardboard. Also, I didn't really know how to do the sides, but that didn't stop me from making a miserable attempt.
Then I decided to start over and cut out long strips instead of one long piece of cardboard for the top...

I'm going to fill out the top with more strips and hold it together with long strips in the back. Have no idea how this will look when I'm done but I really hope it will turn out great.

The Newspaper Narrative

The assignment was to construct some sort of tower out of newspapers that would be able to withstand the weight of a block of cement. Our goal was for the tower to hold the block up as high off the ground as we could make it. At first I had no idea how to start off. I mean the obvious answer seemed to be to stack up the newspapers as they were-that would guarantee like 5 inches. Then I wanted to construct a large cylinder-type tower but noticed a lot of people making cylinders so scrapped that idea since I hate using the same idea as someone else even if I thought of it on my own. Be original please, don’t be lazy. After a long while I finally decided to build it sort of the same way that bridges are made since they’re designed to bear incredible weight. I was going to stack these “bridges” on top of each other but by the time I finished-not really-the first layer, time was up. So of course my tower only sustained the block of cement about as high as the newspaper was thick. If only I had more time, but perhaps it was too complicated. I want to build another one and turn it in later for credit, but who knows.
